Sven-Goran Eriksson has delayed the announcement of his England squad to face Turkey until tomorrow as Michael Owen's fitness is assessed ahead of the Euro 2004 qualifier.

Eriksson was due to name his squad this evening, however, his plans have changed following Owen's injury at Anfield yesterday, while David Beckham is not due in action for Real Madrid until this evening.

Owen left Anfield on crutches with a shin injury after falling awkwardly during Liverpool's 2-1 defeat against Arsenal, admitting: "When it happened, I thought I'd broken it."

Liverpool rate Owen as "50-50" for the game in Istanbul on Saturday. A scan today revealed no damage to his ankle or knee but a split in the lining between the fibula and tibia bones in his lower right leg.

Eriksson will now name his squad at 2 p.m. tomorrow.
