A woman in her 70s was seriously assaulted in her Co Tipperary home early yesterday morning, gardaí have confirmed.
The woman was in her house in Nenagh when the intruder broke in at around 3.40am on Sunday.
The man assaulted her, burgled the house and threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the attack. It is believed he was in the house for a considerable period of time.
Gardaí today confirmed they were investigating a "serious assault" on the woman in her house.
