DIT eLearning Summer School 2006

The fourth DIT eLearning Summer School will take place from Monday, June 19th to Friday, June 23rd in DIT Aungier Street, Dublin 2. Facilitated by DIT's learning technology team, this is an opportunity for educators to share and explore current e-learning issues, particularly in the context of the Irish educational system.

The week is structured around practical workshops each morning with more theoretical aspects of e-learning explored each afternoon. There are also practical hands-on WebCT training sessions at both introductory and advanced levels.

The week is open to both DIT staff and the wider educational community but places are limited and early registration is recommended. A fee of €395 applies, which includes coffee and lunch each day, plus the summer school dinner.

University College Cork Fifth Annual Workshop on Coding and Cryptography

The HEA-funded Boole Centre for Research in Informatics, the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, the Department of Microelectronic Engineering and the School of Mathematical Sciences will host a two-day workshop on coding and cryptography in G2, Kane Building, UCC on Monday, May 22nd and Tuesday, May 23rd.

All are welcome to attend. There is no registration fee but attendees are required to e-mail n.power@bcri.ucc.ie to register for the event.

UCC Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Open Day

The Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) open day takes place in the main lecture theatre, Cork University Hospital, Wilton, Cork on Saturday, May 27th from 2.30 to 4.30p.m. Topics include research and treatment updates and there will be a question and answers session. Limerick Institute of Technology Science Engineering Information Technology Summer School

Designed for second-year to fifth-year secondary school students to give them a taster of different areas in science, engineering and information technology, the LIT summer school takes place from Monday, June 12th to Friday, June 16th.

Workshops will feature small numbers with supervision by lecturers and technical staff. Emphasis is on hands-on activities.
