Leaving Cert students wishing to appeal any of their results have until close of business on Tuesday to apply to their schools to view their scripts.

This is the first stage in the appeals process.

While there is no charge for the viewing of scripts, if you decide to appeal it will cost you €40 for each subject, or €15.50 in the case of each Leaving Cert Applied subject.

Viewing of scripts will take place on Friday, August 28th and Saturday, August 29th, and any appeal has to be submitted to the State Examinations Commission before September 2nd.

If an applicant’s results are upgraded on appeal, their position on the ‘Order of Merit’ list will be altered to reflect their new points score.

If they are deemed entitled to a place on a course based on their upgraded Leaving Certificate results they will receive an offer.

If all of the places for that course have already been allocated, they will receive a deferral of the offer for the following academic year.

Also on Tuesday, the Available Places facility opens at cao.ie for courses which have yet to be filled.

Students have until 5.15pm next Monday, August 24th to accept a CAO offer.

Some 27,850 students had accepted offers by noon Tuesday out of a total of 52,028 CAO applicants.
