Dundalk man pleads guilty to firearms offences

A Dundalk man has pleaded guilty at the Special Criminal Court to unlawful possession of firearms.

A Dundalk man has pleaded guilty at the Special Criminal Court to unlawful possession of firearms.

Mr Vincent McKevitt (44) a father of four of Mountain Court, Point Road, Dundalk, pleaded guilty to possession, contrary to the Firearms Act 1964, of a sawn-off 12-gauge over-and-under shotgun and a 9mm Parabellum semi-automatic pistol on 5th January 2002 at Nicholas Street Dundalk.

The court has heard that gardai investigating the activities of dissident republicans arrested six men in the house at Nicholas Street.

Mr McKevitt was remanded in custody for sentence on May 6th.
