An all-star cast will line out for a concert to honour singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen as part of the Dublin Theatre Festival.

Music producer Hal Willner is behind the gathering of performers which includes American rock'n'roll singer-songwriter Lou Reed, Nick Cave, Beth Orton and former Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker.

The concert will take place at Dublin's Point theatre on October 4th next.

Some of the other singers and musicians taking part in Willner's "Came So Far For Beauty - An Evening of Leonard Cohen songs" include Laurie Anderson, Perla Batalla, Rob Burger, Charlie Burnham, Julie Christensen, Don Falzone, Gavin Friday, Chris Spedding, Teddy Thompson and Kenny Wollesen.

Canadian poet and songwriter Cohen became an iconic figure in 1960s after the release of his debut album in 1968.

Willner's tribute was originally commissioned in 2003 by the Celebrate Brooklyn Performing Arts Festival with support from the Canadian Consulate General New York.

The event will take place as part of the Dublin Theatre Festival, which is running at various venues from September 29th to October 14th. Tickets cost from €39.50 to €70.
