A north Dublin manufacturing company is to close with the loss of 120 jobs it was announced this morning.

Wessel Industries, a manufacturer of energy and telecommunications cabling, has confirmed this morning it is to close its manufacturing facility in Finglas, with the loss of 120 jobs phased over the next 12 months.

The company, which plans to consolidate operations at its Longford facility, blamed "market trading conditions" for the decision and said it would work to "ensure a fair redundancy package" with its staff.

The Tánaiste, Ms Harney, described the announcement as "a huge blow" for the workers and said finding alternative employment for the workers was now the priority.
