Two men have been arrested as part of an investigation into organised crime.

A man in his early 20s was arrested in Clara, Co Offaly yesterday, and a second man, aged in his early 20s, was detained in Dublin. A car was also seized during the Dublin arrest.

Gardaí carrying out investigations into organised crime in the midlands earlier this month arrested two women as well as a 23-year-old man following planned searches on a number of houses.

The man remains in custody in Portlaoise Garda station.
