Man killed in Co Tipperary road crash

63-year-old died when the car he was driving left the road and collided with a tree

A 63-year- old man has died after the car he was driving left the road, entered a ditch and collided with a tree at Newtown, New Inn, Cashel, Co Tipperary.

A 63-year- old man has died after the car he was driving left the road, entered a ditch and collided with a tree at Newtown, New Inn, Cashel, Co Tipperary.

The incident happened at about 2.45pm this afternoon.

A 35-year-old man who was a passenger in the car was taken to South Tipperary General Hospital in Clonmel. His injuries are described as non-life threatening.

The road is currently closed to facilitate a technical examination. Diversions are in place.
