Man killed, boy (12) hurt in Co Mayo single-vehicle crash

Gardaí investigating incident on the N59 near Mulranny at 7pm on Sunday

A man in his 60s was killed and a boy was injured in a road crash into Co Mayo.

The incident occurred on the N59 near Mulranny at 7pm on Sunday.

The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. His remains were removed to the mortuary at Mayo University Hospital.

The 12-year-old boy, who was a passenger in the car, was also taken to Mayo University Hospital with minor injuries.


A Garda technical examination of the scene is due to take place on Monday. The road remains closed at the scene and local diversions are in place.
