Man assaulted and locked in car boot by at least three men

Incident occurred at Irish Rail compound near Mounrath, Co Laois

Gardaí are investigating after a man was assaulted and locked in the boot of his car by at least three men in Co Laois on Tuesday.

The incident occurred at about 5am on Tuesday morning at Kilbricken, Mounrath.

The victim, an Irish Rail security man, arrived for work at a compound in the area and was approached by at least three men who assaulted him and locked him into his car boot before leaving the scene.

“The compound is in a rural area and the assailants left the area in a vehicle the make and model of which is unknown at this time,” said gardaí.
