Man arrested after loaded firearm seized in Tallaght

Gardaí have seized a loaded firearm and arrested one man following a search operation that took place following a firearms incident on Saturday night.

A firearm was discharged at a residential property at Brookfield Road in Tallaght at approximately 10.30pm. Nobody was injured during the incident.

Two search warrants for two properties in Tallaght were obtained pursuant to section 29 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939, as a result of investigations following the incident.

The search operation took place on Wednesday afternoon and during the course of the search a loaded shotgun was seized.

One man, aged 20 years, was arrested at the scene under section 30 Offences Against the State Act, 1939 and is being detained at Tallaght Garda station.
