Man (70s) dies following collision in Co Tipperary

The crash between the car and pedestrian occurred at about 5.50pm on Sunday

A man in his 70s has died following a crash between a car and a pedestrian in Co Tipperary on Sunday.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the collision, which occurred at about 5.50pm on Sunday, on Castle Street in Cahir, Co Tipperary.

The pedestrian, a man in his 70s, was taken to Cork University Hospital where he later died. The local coroner has been notified and a postmortem will to take place in the coming days.

The driver of the car was unharmed.

Castle Street in Cahir remains closed on Monday morning to allow for a technical examination of the scene by forensic collision investigators and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward and any road users with video footage, including dash-cam footage, is asked to make this available to them.
