Gardaí in Cahir, Co Tipperary are investigating an attempted break-in at a post office in the town.

At about 5am this morning, three raiders used a digger to break through the side door of the building, a Garda spokesman confirmed.

Nothing was taken, however, and the raiders escaped. No one was injured.

Gardaí are seeking witnesses.
