Thousands of shoppers looking for festive gifts are expected to attend the annual national crafts and design fair at the RDS in Dublin over the weekend.
The fair features the work of more than 450 artists, designers and craftspeople and bills itself as the country's "largest annual celebration of crafts".
Admission to the event, which runs until tomorrow, is €10 and €7 for pensioners. Children under 16 accompanied by their parents or guardians go free.
Also appearing at the RDS this weekend are the American acoustic duo Tenacious D. Fronted by actor Jack Black and his bandmate Kyle Gass, Sunday night's concert at the Simmonscourt venue is sold out.
Elsewhere in Dublin, Amnesty International is hosting a Carols for Freedom concert at Christ Church Cathedral tonight. This will feature the Christ Church Cathedral choir, musicians John Spillane and Louis de Paor and singer/songwriter Liam Lawton. Tickets cost €25 and doors open at 7.30pm.
At the Point, Dublin, George Michael performs the last of three sold-out gigs tonight while on Sunday, Madness will take over the venue.
Mexican guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela play the Savoy in Cork tomorrow while singer-songwriter Josh Ritter performs at the Radisson SAS hotel in Galway. He plays the Glór Irish music centre in Ennis, Co Clare, tonight.
Irish band Director play Róisín Dubh in Galway tomorrow as part of a tour which will also see them perform at the Ambassador theatre in Dublin tonight.
Elsewhere, Frances Black plays the Friar's Gate theatre in Limerick tonight before travelling to the Canal Court Hotel in Newry tomorrow.
