Council announces appointment of Chief Rabbi to the State

The Jewish Representative Council of Ireland has announced the appointment of a new Chief Rabbi to the State.

Rabbi Dr Yaakov Pearlman will fill a position which has been vacant since last October when his predecessor, Rabbi Gavin Broder, left to take an appointment in London.

A native of Manchester, England, Rabbi Pearlman has worked in Britain and the United States.

He leaves a post in Rochester, New York State, to come to Ireland.

He and his wife, Sheila, have four children and six grandchildren.

They will arrive in Dublin next week.
