Bail in shooting case

A man accused of shooting a garda and having a firearm in a Dublin pub was granted independent bail of £6,000 yesterday

A man accused of shooting a garda and having a firearm in a Dublin pub was granted independent bail of £6,000 yesterday. Mr David Thomas (28), of Cloonvara Crescent, Finglas, appeared in Dublin District Court charged with having the gun at the Tower Inn, Finglas, on January 11th. He is also accused of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life and causing serious harm to Det Garda Fergal Patwell at an apartment in North Brunswick Street on January 15th.

His brothers, Patrick (32), of Coultry Drive, and Richard (34), of Belcare Park, both in Ballymun, along with their father, Richard snr, of Cloonvara Crescent, Finglas, are accused of unlawful possession of a firearm at the apartment.

Judge Miriam Malone set independent bail at £6,000 for David Thomas and £3,000 for each of the others. All the defendants are due in court again on February 20th.
