A material contravention of the Galway City Development Plan has paved the way for planning permission to be granted for a new high-tech car park in the city centre.
The four-storey car park at Newtownsmith will be the first of its kind in the west - drivers will be able to leave their cars at the entrance, where they will be raised to a vacant space by a mechanised system. The "sky park" will be able to accommodate 84 cars.
