Islamabad - The US missile strikes on alleged terrorist targets in eastern Afghanistan killed 26 people and injured around 40, Afghan sources and hospital officials in Pakistan said yesterday.

So far 21 bodies had been recovered but the final toll may increase, a Taliban spokesman told the Afghan Islamic Press.

He said more than 30 people were injured in the missile strikes in Khost, around 120 km south of Kabul.
