A diver from Northern Ireland was rushed from Fanad Head, Co Donegal, to the decompression chamber at Craigavon Hospital, Co Armagh, last night, and Rosslare lifeboat rescued five people on a yacht which got into difficulties yesterday evening.

Dun Laoghaire lifeboat assisted another yacht to port in Dublin Bay when it became fog bound. A speedboat rescued three scuba divers who were being swept out to sea near Hook Head, Co Wexford.

Meanwhile, a search along the Shannon for the occupants of a speedboat which ran aground on a sandbank ended when the five made their way to safety.
