About 1,800 staff at RTÉ are to receive pay increases of 6 per cent over the coming 2½ years after 90 per cent of voting members of the organisation’s trade union group backed the proposed deal in a ballot.
The arrangement was agreed after negotiations were referred to the broadcaster’s internal industrial relations tribunal.
Under its terms, most staff will receive four increases of 1.5 per cent, the first backdated to May 1st this year. Two instalments will be paid next year in May and October, with the final rise due on October 1st, 2027.
Anyone earning less than €50,000 when the May 1st, 2026, increase is implemented will receive an additional 0.5 per cent.

The union group, which includes the National Union of Journalists, Siptu, Unite and Connect was reported last October to have sought a flat-rate increase of €1,500 plus a 6 per cent increase to wages.

The previous pay agreement expired last December when it was agreed, after conciliation, that staff would receive a €1,000 voucher as an interim arrangement as it was considered impractical to continue talks around the time of the general election.
The RTÉ deal follows one recently struck at The Irish Times, where staff voted to accept a two-year agreement providing for a 2 per cent increase this year with a further 2 per cent in 2026.
The deal was reached after the two sides sought the assistance of the Workplace Relations Commission with their talks.
