YOU WILL get lost the first time you go to Sol den Serra - everyone does; it's almost tradition - but it's well worth the map-unfurling and the frantic phone-calling.

Twelve kilometres northeast of the town of Ibiza, the restaurant has a spectacular setting, cut into the side of a cliff. By day you can lounge around on the sun deck, sipping cocktails, or take a stroll on the beach just below the restaurant; by night you can join regulars such as Kate Moss (below) and Jade Jagger for scrumptious food and awesome views.

The acoustics here are something else, because of the cliff above and below the restaurant, and most nights you dine to the sound of the waves breaking on the beach below.

The Euro-fusion food is reasonably priced - about €25 per head, without drinks - and the atmosphere is as jovially laid-back as it comes.

Unlike a lot of restaurants in Ibiza, the place remains open outside the summer season, and if you have a few moments to spare you should take in the charm of the surrounding area of Cala Llonga.

If you want to experience the full-on Sol den Serra experience, try to get there when there is a full moon - although these evenings tend to get booked out in advance.

Either way, if you're anywhere in Ibiza, make sure to swing by at some stage. If you need any more convincing, just look at the photographs on its website (www.soldenserrapurewhite.com).

By the way, the mostly English-speaking staff are used to phone calls from potential customers lost somewhere in the surrounding forest and looking for directions. It is tricky to find first time out, but so very, very worth it.

Travelling from Ibiza town, you're looking to get to Cala Llonga. Then watch for the signs for Sol den Serra. Its telephone number is 00-34-971-196176.
