New flagship S80 for Volvo

This is the new Volvo S80, due to make its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month. The second generation of the Swede's flagship model, it will feature a new 315bhp V8 with all-wheel-drive and a 3.2-litre six cylinder petrol engine and the latest D5 turbo diesel unit, offering 185bhp.

Taking some of its design cues from the S40, the central console takes on the 'floating' trait of its smaller sibling. New features for the model include collision warning and Brake Support with Active Cruise Control. It also claims to have the world's first Personal Car Communicator (PCC). This features intelligent technology to remotely check if the car is locked or not, alert you if the alarm has been activated, and a heartbeat sensor which warns if there is anyone in the car. The new S80 will also feature an optional 'keyless drive' system, suggesting a starter button will be fitted instead.

The car will arrive in Irish showrooms in June/July this year. Prices will be confirmed in the coming months.
