Audi sets sights on the top spot with lower-priced model versions

AUDI HAS set its sights on top spot in the premium segment in Ireland for 2009 and signs are that it is a serious contender

AUDI HAS set its sights on top spot in the premium segment in Ireland for 2009 and signs are that it is a serious contender. Already, the new A4 was the best-selling premium car for the first 10 weeks of the year.

While some rivals have opted to import models from Britain to bolster sales, Audi has opted for a limited number of lower specification, lower-priced versions.

Under the Limited Edition tag line, the new cars offer significant savings over regular models. For example, a Limited Edition A4 2-litre TDI diesel starts at €32,900 and, at the higher end of the market, a 2.-litre TDI diesel A6 retails ffor €39,900.

“These models have lower specifications. . . but all share the fundamental qualities you expect with Audi,” explains Fintan Knight, director of Audi. “By giving our customers and potential customers this choice, we are creating an innovative alternative and supporting the local economy and our dealers.”
