264 homes planned for Sandyford
Developers Canon & Kirk are looking to build 264 homes at Woodside in Sandyford, Co Dublin. The planning application to Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is for 69 houses and 195 apartments, a restaurant, minimarket, and commercial/retail space, which will form phase five of the Stepaside Area Action plan.
Plan for big commercial and community facility in Skerries
At Kellys Bay in Skerries, Co Dublin Bromvale Limited has applied to Fingal County council for a two-storey commercial and community facility of 4,334 sq m (46,650 sq ft), including six shops, a restaurant, creche, medical facilities, offices, bar and function room. A petrol filling station and motor accessories shop is also part of the application.
252 houses for Dublin 15
E&J Lynam Properties has been granted permission by Fingal County Council for 252 houses and duplex apartments in phase two of the Lynam lands development at Castaheany, Dublin 15.
German discount retailers continue to apply for more stores
German discount foodstores continue to make a play for supermarket domination. Lidl is looking to build a 1,645 sq m (17,707 sq ft) discount store on the one acre grounds of the former Solus Tower factory premises at Corke Abbey Bray, Co Dublin. They are also looking for 99 car-parking spaces.
In Palmerstown, Dublin 20, Aldi is up against it after 10 appeals were lodged against planning permission granted by South Dublin County Council. Aldi is looking to demolish the existing building and build a single storey foodstore, as well as four single storey retail units at the junction of N4 and Kennelsfort Road.
Appellants included residents of Hollyville Terrace, Hollyville Lawn, Father Michael Hasset, Palmerstown Community Council, Palmerstown Environmental group and Frank Fahy Riversdale Residents Association.
In Drogheda Aldi was refused permission to build a store and 56 car-parking spaces at the junction of Ashleigh Heights, North Road in Drogheda by Drogheda Borough council.
