Superquinn has lodged a planning application to develop a new neighbourhood centre along the Western Distributor Road in Galway city. The scheme would include a supermarket, mall, neighbourhood shops, creche and 274 car-parking spaces on the 2.9-acre site on the new road, which will eventually link Rahoon to Barna. More than 2,000 new houses are either planned or under construction in the area.
Meanwhile, the new owners of Westside Shopping Centre have sought planning approval for a new first floor, a drive-through McDonald's food outlet and retail units.
