Aisling’s Picks: Mascara that keeps eyelashes soft and a cream to soothe winter-weathered skin

I’ve been a fan of Decleor for a long time, but for some reason they fell off my radar for a while. As soon as I righted this wrong I was glad. My winter-weathered skin is as dry as the Gobi desert and I felt instant comfort and relief as soon as I used this thick, rich cream on my parched face. It’s blended with deliciously smelling oils and is great for nighttime use if your skin is normal to dry. I also use it during the day.

Mascara is such a little thing and although there are hundreds of types available it is so hard to get a good one. This mascara uses a mousse formula which has less of a tendency to set hard as a (spiky) rock. Beeswax helps to keep lashes soft and two different size bristles in the wand mean the little lashes get as much love as longer ones.

I rarely feature eye creams because they’re usually overpriced and don’t perform any differently from regular serums or oils. This double decker stack however made me fall in love. It’s not just the beautiful aqua colour of the packaging, it’s the clever two step approach to eye skin hydration. Step 1 firms and is used AM and PM while Step 2 acts as a filler.

I want everyone to stop worrying about this contouring lark. A lovely palette like this can be used where ever you like to brighten – lightly dust the lighter bronze all over. Brush the deeper colour on cheekbones and add shimmer to the top of your cheekbones or down the nose. Use a light touch; there are no rules, so go with what looks best on you.

Clarins Hand and Nail Super Restorative Cream

A rich cream which smells delicious, but it took me a minute to work out what the scent was. There are lots of seed oils, along with shea butter in the formula and the ever so slight scent of mango oil and rose work really well. This is also great for dry nails, so keep applying throughout the day, it smooths instantly.
