YouTube has proven to be a happy hunting ground for James Hinton.

As with his debut Nonfiction, the Brooklyn producer's new album uses samples of various obscure and unknown singers and rappers to give his dark, glitchy electronica a dollop of emotional resonance.

This time around, though, Hinton acknowledges who these sampled individuals actually are and it’s a move that adds considerable heart and soul to the tracks.

What's also clear is that Hinton himself connected with his cast of rappers (including OphQi, Superior Thought and Kruddy Zak), grime MCs, dancehall singers and would-be pop stars and allows their vulnerabilities and characteristics to make a mark on songs like Florida, Copper Wire and the deeply affecting Falling Out Of Phase.
