It’s fair to say that Underworld have seen it all at this stage. Back in 1980, Karl Hyde and Rick Smith met while studying at Cardiff University.

The encounter kickstarted a career that has taken them from operating as a band with a squiggle for a name (aka Freur) to their heyday as one of dance music’s most innovative, groundbreaking and bankable acts.

Much of their success occurred after the introduction of club DJ Darren Emerson to the team, which probably peaked with their Born Slippyhit.

After Emerson departed in 2002, Hyde and Smith initially started to produce more introspective tunes but Barking, their latest album sees them return to the dancefloor.

With collaborations from Deep Dish's Dubfire, High Contrast, trance megastar Paul Van Dyk and dubstep producers Appleblim and Al Tourettes, Barkingis a future-tense an album as you could wish for. Support from Shit Robot and Japanese Popstars.
