Host-ess with The Very Most-ess

Indiecater Records is moving with the times. The Dublin-based label will host its first gig next month. Most of Indiecater’s revenue is generated through digital sales, and to date the label has released just one physical CD: the debut album of Colorado band Candy Claws, which was made available in Ireland this summer. Founder Kevin Dunphy (who also runs the MP3 Hugger blog) plans to expand their repertoire by moving into the live forum, and is hosting a gig at Whelan’s, Dublin on December 12th.

Headlining will be Idaho band The Very Most, who have released four digital EPs on Indiecater, which will also be compiled on CD and launched at the gig. Joining them are Irish acts The Ambience Affair and Storkboy Choons.

“Like most other record labels in the world, we aim to find the best old and new music, Irish or otherwise, and work our hardest to get it to the widest audience possible,” Dunphy says. “Our aim is to put on more shows for gig-goers who are not related to us or have not received bribes to turn up on the night to make up the numbers.

“The Very Most are the most genuinely talented band making pristine indie pop nuggets on the planet today, so signing them really was a no-brainer.”
