A CANVAS by William Scott, titled Colander, Beans and Eggs, far exceeded its estimate of £20,000-£30,000 to sell for £80,000 at a Sotheby's sale of modern British and Irish paintings and watercolours in London last Wednesday. And an oil by Walter Osborne, called Little Boy Asleep, outstripped its estimate of £30,000-£50,000 to fetch £66,000. Other Irish pictures in the auction included A Moorish Garden by Sir John Lavery which went under the hammer for £10,500
