Turnover at Sony’s Irish computer entertainment division fell by almost 40 per cent in the 12 months to the end of March 2009, as sales of Playstation 3 failed to compensate for the phasing out of Playstation 2.

Despite a drop of almost €20 million in sales, pretax profits at Sony Computer Entertainment Ireland increased to just under €635,00 from €435,000 the previous year.

Separate accounts filed for Sony’s music division show Sony Music Entertainment Ireland booked a profit of €2.13 million for the 15 months to the end of March 2009.
