Three firms create new jobs, Microsoft takes on graduates

Three firms have announced plans to create 133 new jobs while Microsoft Ireland said on Wednesday it is to recruit 100 graduates and interns.

Brightwater Recruitment has said it is to create 50 positions at its office in Dublin, Cork and Belfast.

The majority of the new roles will be for consultants with expertise in a number of areas including banking and financial services, IT, insurance, law, marketing and sales. A number of support staff roles are also being created.

Established in 1998, Brightwater currently employs more than 80 people in Ireland.

Managing director David Bloch said the firm had seen a strong and growing demand for recruitment services over the past eighteen months.

Elsewhere, Dublin-based Fineos, a company that makes claims management software for the insurance industry, has announced plans to create 50 new jobs over the next 18 months.

The announcement was made by Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton at the opening of the firm’s new headquarters at Eastpoint Business Park.

The new positions are being created as part of a new €9 million R&D investment programme to support further development of Fineos’s core insurance product suite, and to help increase new export business.

Founded in 1993, the company currently employs about 450 people. It has more than 60 insurance carriers and government accident compensation agencies as customers with 6 of the top 20 group life and health insurance carriers using its software

A further 33 positions are to be created by Chelsea Apps Factory in Belfast. The start-up smartphone app developer said it is to open a new technology development centre in Belfast in early 2015. It will be recruiting to find specialists in mobile software development and testing, the company said.

Separately, tech giant Microsoft said it intends to strengthen its team by recruiting 100 students as part of its graduate and intern programmes. Roles will include programme manager positions, sales opportunities, HR, legal functions as well as finance and marketing positions. On the technical side there will be opportunities for candidates in software engineering and development, as well as engineering support.
