THE Forbairt Techstart Technologist of the Year Award has gone to Mr Michael McGuire of Galway Corrugated Cases (GCC). A graduate of Sligo RTC, Mr McGuire was chosen from nine regional winners who were selected at regional finals.
The award, presented earlier this week by Mr Noel Treacy, Minister for Science, Technology and Commerce, honours outstanding achievement by a graduate employed by a company under the Techstart programme.
GCC is part of the Gandon Group of commercial companies set up by Rehab. It specialises in packaging solutions for the pharmaceutical and consumer food industries.
Mr McGuire was responsible for introducing a new computer system that controls production and receipt of order to delivery. He also secured accreditation to ISO 9002, improving the com pany's competitiveness and market share.
