The idea of the modular smartphone isn’t new – both Google and LG have done work here recently – but Lenovo is now dipping its toe in the water with its Moto brand.

The Z series of phones are modular, with snap-on extras to boost sound or turn your phone into a projector. More practically, you can snap on an extra power pack, and it’s all held together with high-powered magnets.

The phone itself is made from aluminium and stainless steel with a quad HD Amoled display that measures 5.5 inches.

A 13-megapixel rear camera is complemented by a 5-megapixel front camera with a wide-angle lens. And it has a water-repellant coating too.
