Belkin’s Wemo Switch has made it easier to control your appliances from outside the house. Turn your lamp on while you’re on your way home, or switch off that forgotten appliance while you’re on the other side of the world. It works as long as you have an internet connection and your home wifi network holds up.

If you’re looking for something a little smarter though, the Wemo Insight Switch will not only give you control over your appliances but it will monitor energy usage too, giving you information on how long something has been powered on and projections about how much it is costing you on a daily and monthly basis.

It’s smaller than the original Switch, so it won’t take over your plugs. You can set up schedules for appliances and rules that will turn power on at certain times, or link it up to the IFTTT platform to expand its uses.
