New Xbox controller reaches Elite levels

Customisable, personalised: it’s a cut above your average console controller

If you were paying attention to the E3 buzz, you'd have noticed that Microsoft is branching out a bit. It's going big on virtual reality for a start, with a link up with Oculus Rift that will see the Xbox controller included with the headset. Something a little more accessible to the average Xbox user, though, is the Elite Controller. The new version of the classic Xbox controller is a little more refined than what we've become used to.

It is customisable, for a start, with swappable components that means you can get a set up that suits your gaming needs. It is more than a lump of plastic: there are metal thumbsticks and D-pads, paddles you can add or remove, and appable buttons. It all depends on what you need from the device. Designed for Windows 10 and Xbox One, the Elite Controller will be available in October.
