Extra-marital affairs website Ashley Madison introduces ‘masks’

Remember Ashley Madison, the website that helps facilitate extra-marital affairs? It had a bit of a bad run of things last year, when its database was hacked and the personal details of users were made public.

But according to the company, people are still signing up for membership, despite the breach.

Naturally, Ashley Madison has taken steps to protect those loyal users, who may not want their pictures out in public, available for anyone to see. The solution? Digital masks that can be added to your profile picture to obscure part of your face. You can choose from a plain bar across your eyes, or a more Mardi Gras option. Think “digital Zoro” rather than “master of disguise”.

Incidentally, the firm still doesn’t require users to verify their email address, so unsuspecting people could still find their email address signed up to Ashley Madison without their knowledge.
