Itron to create 40 jobs at new business service centre in Cork

US firm is seeking professionals in the areas of accounting and financial administration

Technology and services company Itron is to establish a global business service centre in Cork, creating 40 new jobs.

The US firm, which manufactures metering devices for measuring water and energy usage, is seeking experienced professionals to join its Cork team at its new facility in Mahon. Positions will include accounting, financial controls and financial administration.

"After conducting an extensive search to find the best location for our new GBS centre, our project team determined that Ireland best suited our criteria and is the right fit for our company," Itron chief financial officer Steve Helmbrecht said.

IDA chief executive Barry O’Leary said the ICT Sector in Ireland is continuing to attract substantial global investment, with 9 of the top 10 US ICT companies having strategic operations here.

“Itron setting up in Cork, contributes to this ICT cluster and enhances the profile of the Southern region as a location of choice for international business activities,” he added.

The Cork business service centre is the product of the company’s strategic efforts to consolidate and centralise select compliance and accounting processes.
