Hewlett-Packard Ireland has appointed Mr Gary Tierney as country sales manager with responsibility for enterprise and corporate accounts.

Kilkenny County and City manager Mr Paddy Donnelly has been appointed chairman of the Institute of Public Administration.

Mr Giuseppe Gaudiano, previously contracts sales manager with Lomac Tiles in Belfast has joined Regan Tile Design as sales director.

Mason Hayes & Curran, solicitors, has appointed Mr Niall Michel partner with the firm. Mr Michel is head of the firm's administrative/public law and judicial review practice.

Octagon technologies has recently recruited Mr Ruaidhri McSharry as sales manager and Ms Frances Meade as chief operations officer.

Mr Owen Lamont, chairman and chief executive of global email company, gem, is to chair Irish Internet-based advertising and marketing company adculture.net following gem's recent investment in the company. Mr Neil Robinson, vice president of business development at gem has also been appointed managing director of adculture.net.

Ms Taryn Barling and Ms Karen Seery have established Melt Design, a new design consultancy. Both are graduates of NCAD.

McConnells Advertising has appointed two new partnerships to their creative department. Ms Ariana Akbar and Ms Denise Kinsella, and Mr Marcus Hartung and Mr Des Creedon take up their positions in the agency having all recently completed an MSc in advertising at DIT Aungier Street, Dublin.

Internet product development company, Vistech Software, has announced two new senior appointments. Mr James McCarthy takes up the position of financial controller. Mr Canice Bowe has been appointed development manager with responsibility for project delivery, quality and support functions at Vistech's Cork centre.
