The price of oil fell to seven-month lows below $25 (€27.6) a barrel yesterday as signs of building US stocks offset concerns about an OPEC production cut in the new year.

Benchmark Brent North Sea crude for delivery in February fell as low as $24.42 a barrel, before stabilising at $24.85.
