Expect party pieces as ‘Daniel & Majella’s B&B Road Trip’ returns

Filming begins on the second series next month

Sometimes there’s nothing like a good participant application form to give an insight into how television is made.

On Coco TV's Don't Tell the Bride, for example, brides were asked to share their "biggest worries" about letting their grooms take charge of the wedding plans, while grooms were advised that "unusual and adventurous ideas" would help further their applications.

A taster of what to expect on Daniel & Majella's B&B Road Trip which, in a big disappointment for UTV Ireland, has switched to RTÉ One for its second series, lies in its innocent question: "Do you or any of your family play a musical instrument / sing / have a party piece?"

The key inquiry is undoubtedly this one, however: “Are you a Daniel O’Donnell fan?”

Vision Independent Productions was reportedly “inundated” with applications last time, and the show went on to become a rare hit for UTV Ireland, garnering an average of 335,000 viewers on Monday nights. The first series was backed by Skoda, but RTÉ says no decision has yet been made on sponsorship this time.

The application process this time was open for less than a week, with shooting due to begin on June 6th. B&B owners have been advised that they can keep their B&Bs open during the O’Donnells’ stay, but they “may need help” to cover them while filming.
