Daily Mail chief executive Morgan to retire earlier than expected

Chief executive of Daily Mail & General Trust (DMGT) Martin Morgan is to retire earlier than planned, leaving the company by the end of next month.

Mr Morgan initially said he would step down by the end of the year, but the group said he now plans to leave his role as chief executive on May 31st and depart the group a month later.

The parent of Britain's Daily Mail named Paul Zwillenberg, who had once served as the managing director of DMGT's consumer media company, as chief executive from June 1st.

Mr Morgan’s imminent departure brings an end to a spell in which he turned the publisher of the Daily Mail newspaper and website into a global media firm.
