Ms Anne Maher, chief executive of the Pensions Board, has been appointed as a member of the new independent review body for the regulation of the accountancy profession in Britain and Ireland.

Ms Maher is a member of the Irish Commission on Public Service Pensions and an Irish representative on the EU Pensions Forum. She is also a member of the Association of Pension Lawyers in Ireland and a Fellow of the Irish Institute of Pension Managers.

A law graduate, Ms Maher is a former chairwoman of the Irish Association of Pension Funds and a former Irish representative on the European Federation for Retirement Provision. The review board's task is to monitor the operation of the new system of the accounting profession.
