Healthcare 21 to create 40 new jobs

Healthcare 21 is to create 40 new jobs in the west of Ireland as part of an expansion plan.

The company, which is one of Ireland’s largest privately owned indigenous healthcare firms, was recently awarded a Health Service Executive contract to provide a fully managed service for the recycling of patient aids & appliances and is expanding as a result.

Managing director Tara Kearney said the company has an immediate requirement to fill 40 new positions, and had commenced recruiting.

“The new roles include field based service engineers, driver installers, cleaning operatives based and additional administration staff across all areas of our business,” she said.

Established by Cork-born entrepreneur Owen Curtin in 2003, the Healthcare 21 group is headquartered in Cork and, in addition to its Irish business, has substantial trading subsidiaries in the UK.

The company currently employs 120 staff with offices in Cork, Dublin, Ballymena and Birmingham.

Meanwhile, American technology company Tintri has chosen Cork as the location for its EMEA technical support centre.

“The opening of the technical support centre ensures that we are well placed to provide support to our rapidly increasing EMEA client base,” Doug Rich, vice president of EMEA at Tintri, said.

The company said it plans to grow staff numbers in Cork by 50 per cent over the next 12 months.
