Esat Digifone has introduced a new feature to its mobile data connection service, which it claims will make it faster and cheaper for its customers to use the DigiData service. Digifone will now be able to send data over its mobile GSM network in just seven seconds, where previously it could take up to 30 seconds to make a connection. There will also be savings as the service is charged at the Digifone to Digifone special rate of 12.5 pence per minute, compared to the current 25 pence-per-minute tariff.

The software, developed in association with British company, Brand Communications, is known as Brand Apollo. The service has been further refined to simply charge for the duration of the data call being made, instead of customers having to log in every time they want to send data. In addition, all calls are automatically reconnected in the event of a dropped call.
