Third of properties unsold so far at €60m RDS auction

Five-bed in Brittas Bay sells for €290k, twice the reserve as others withdrawn unsold

Some 150 properties were put under the hammer at the first of Allsop’s two September auctions which got underway this morning, with more than 300 properties listed for sale today and Thursday.

By 2.30pm, almost 100 of the properties were sold, which meant that more than a third were either withdrawn or unsold.

Both residential and commercial properties were up for sale and one of the first properties to go was 10 Harcourt Street & 10/11 Montague Lane, a Georgian property with two warehouses on the side. It had a reserve price of € 2.9 million but sold for €2.95m

A public house in Walkinstown, The Traders, along with three retail units, had a reserve range of €900,000-€1 million, and sold for €1 million.

One of the strongest results was for a five-bedroom house in Ballinapark, Brittas Bay, Co. Wicklow. It sold for € 290,000, almost twice the reserve set on it, while a semi-detached three- bed in Tyrrellstown, D15, sold for more than double the reserve € 202,500

Capranny Stud in Trim, Co Meath sold for € 450,000, €50,000 over the reserve, while a modern semi-detached warehouse unit in Weatherwell Business Park, Dublin 22 sold for € 291,000, some € 31,000 over the maximum reserve.

Quite a number of properties however, including a shop on Leinster Street in Athy, Co. Kildare, were withdrawn unsold. The last bid on the Kildare property, which had a reserve of €70-80,000, was €60,000.
