British software group Surfcontrol has abandoned plans to bid for Baltimore Technologies' Content subsidiary, according to reports from London. Baltimore shares rose sharply last month after it emerged that Surfcontrol, which develops software to block employee access to pornographic websites, was considering a bid for Content. Acquired by Baltimore last year for £700 million sterling (€1.1 billion), it is valued at £20 million.
