Tiger Woods has been voted PGA Tour player of the year for the seventh time in nine years, capping a comeback season that included major victories at the US Masters and British Open.
"No honour is higher than that of being selected by your peers," said PGA Tour president Tim Finchem in a statement.
After undergoing a difficult swing overhaul that limited him to a single title in 2004, Woods returned to form and the top of the world rankings in 2005, claiming six titles and over $10 million in earnings.
Along with the Jack Nicklaus trophy that goes to the player of the year as selected by his peers, Woods' crowded mantlepiece will also hold the Arnold Palmer Award as the Tour's top money winner of the season and the Byron Nelson Award for lowest scoring average (68.66).
American Sean O'Hair was voted PGA Tour rookie of the year after winning the John Deere Classic and more than $2 million in his first season and Olin Browne was named the comeback player of the year.
