Woodenbridge victors

They don't get much tighter than this. But still you won't hear any complaints from Woodenbridge as they secured victory in the recent Brennan Cup at Arklow. In the final Woodenbridge and Coollattin were evenly matched and the last match came to the 18th hole all square. However, a par from six handicapper Dudley Byrne - who was being partnered by Father Jerry O'Brien - proved enough for Woodenbridge to secure a narrow 3-2 victory. In the semi-finals, the winners beat Carrick-on-Suir 3 1/2 to 1 1/2, while runners-up Coollattin beat Rathdowney 4-1. Joining Byrne and Father O'Brien on the winning Woodenbridge team were Gavin Moran, Sean Darcy, Brian Byrne, TJ Mernagh, Liam Canning, David Varian, Michael Holden and A Fogarty.
